Evolution of my Walls

The hall bathroom project is nearing completion, and as I looked around for the pictures I had taken along the way, I realized this project has taken WAY too long. I had to sift through 8 months of photos before I found the "before" ones. Can that be right? Sheesh. But here they are, my walls, tamed from sticky-outy and make you bleed-able to slick and smooth:

Before. First, I scraped off the high points with a putty knife, then sanded the walls with my electric sander. Very dusty.

Sanding only took me half-way so I covered all the walls with joint compound, sanded them with sanding mesh and then again with a damp rag.

Touch-up and priming.

I glued this outside corner piece on because joint compound is not the strongest stuff-I didn't want it to get dinged up.

After. Finally, I painted (Glidden "Goodnight, Moon"), caulked the shower side and installed the hook. Hurrah! (I'm thinking about putting a second hook lower down for the girls to use. Will that just look weird and get in the way? Any thoughts?)

  1. I'm all about anything to let the kids take care of their things. If there is a good place to put the hook at their level, then go for it. Another great job!
